Passport Fees:
Currently, the total fee for applying for a new passport is
$100 for adults
and $85 for children under age 16. Adult passports are
valid for 10 years. Children's passports are valid for 5
years.
Proof
of Citizenship:
U.S.
Citizens may use the following as proof of citizenship:
- Previously
issued United States Passport.
- Certified
copy of your birth certificate issued by the state,
county, or city of your birth (in the U.S.) with the
registrar's seal and date of filing.
- If
you are a U.S. Citizen but were not born in the United
States, a certificate of naturalization, certificate of
citizenship, or a report of birth abroad of a U.S.
Citizen (obtained through the U.S. State Department)
will be required.
- If
there is no birth certificate on file, acceptable
secondary evidence will be required. Check
with the passport agency for details.
Other
photo identification, such as a driver's license or
government identification card must be shown when your new
passport application is submitted.
Photos
Two
recent, identical passport photos must be submitted along
with your application.
The
Clackamas County records management office processes
passport applications and now takes passport photos ($15 per

New
passport applications for adults and children over age 12
must be submitted in person.
In the
Portland, Oregon area, submit new passport applications in
person at the following locations:
Post office locations open Monday -
Friday, 10am - 3pm
Under
normal circumstances your
passport will be processed the Passport Agency in
approximately 4-6 weeks. High demand times can
create delays. See
below for information on obtaining a passport on short
notice.
Note:
Anyone holding a previously issued adult (over 16 years old)
passport, issued within the last 12 years, may complete the
form "Application for Passport by Mail" and submit
documents directly to the passport office indicated on that
form.
PASSPORT
EXPEDITE INFORMATION
Last
minute applications can be processed in shorter time by
paying a $60 passport expedite fee along with your
application. You should also include a prepaid express mail
certificate for last minute processing. Proof of travel must
accompany your last minute application.
The
expedite fee is applicable to all requests for passport
services, including: 1) issuing a new passport, 2) renewing
a passport, 3) changing a name on a passport, 4) extending a
passport to its' full validity of 5 or 10 years, and 5)
adding additional visa pages.
If you apply for your new
passport today and request Expedited Passport Processing,
you can expect to receive your passport within 3 weeks.
The
expedite fee does not include overnight mail delivery.
Travelers may speed up their applications by utilizing and
prepaying Express Mail.
If the traveler's departure date is suddenly moved up
and his/her application has already been sent to
the Seattle Passport Agency, the traveler can request
expedited service by forwarding, via Express
Mail, the $60 expedite fee and a copy of the airline tickets
or itinerary showing international travel within 10 business
days, or 2-3 weeks if foreign visas are involved to:

This
office is open from 9:00am until 3:00pm,
Monday through Friday.
If
desired, a self addressed, prepaid overnight return envelope
for the issued passport can be sent with
the expedite fee. One envelope with the attached return
postage must be provided for each application when overnight
mail service is requested. The application will be processed
within 3 business days of receipt of the expedite fee by the
passport agency.
Travelers
renewing their passports may also request
expedited service by including with their application the
$60 expedite fee and a copy of their airline tickets or
itinerary showing international travel within 10 business
days, or 2-3 weeks if foreign visas are involved.
Applications should be mailed to the National Passport
Center at the address shown on the back of the renewal form.
To
indicate the envelope contains an application with the $60
expedite fee, the word "EXPEDITE" should be noted
on the outside of the envelope.

passport in person:
The Seattle Passport Agency
serves customers who are traveling on very short notice,
usually within 2 weeks, or who need foreign visas for
travel. To apply at the agency you must schedule an appointment by calling
toll-free at 1-877-487-2778, 24 hours/day.
